“For 30 years, I have experienced changes in therapy professions. It is a profession that blends scientific principles with a creative, artistic approach to patient care. The challenges in our profession are time and reimbursement. We have more demands, less time & reimbursement to meet the needs of our patients. Responsible AI is a game changer.”
At TheraAI, we transform physical, occupational, and speech therapy practices with intelligent solutions built for today's healthcare challenges. Our AI-powered platform—featuring smart chatbots, patient engagement, and workflow automation—helps clinics deliver exceptional care while improving efficiency and overcoming administrative overload and demanding patient engagement.
Founder’s Story
Built from the inside. Inspired by the struggle. Driven by the mission.
I’m Judy Lindsay, PT, DPT, CHCQM—founder of TheraAI, healthcare quality specialist, and a passionate advocate for smarter, tech-enabled care. With over 25 years in clinical and leadership roles, I’ve seen every side of healthcare: from treating patients to building and scaling a private practice, leading hospital-wide quality initiatives, and guiding providers nationwide on care optimization and compliance.
From Clinician to Practice Owner
My journey began in direct patient care, where I discovered a deep passion for making a lasting difference in people’s lives. That passion led me to launch Beyond Therapy Pediatric Group in 2005—literally from my kitchen table. As CEO, I developed all clinical and operational systems, secured multiple state contracts, and grew the practice into a multidisciplinary team generating over $2 million in revenue.
But growth wasn’t without hardship. During the 2008–2010 economic crisis, I faced the same tough decisions many practice owners know all too well. Despite being named one of the Mississippi Business Journal’s Leading 50 Business Women in 2009, I learned a hard truth: clinical excellence doesn’t guarantee sustainability. Every sleepless night over payroll, every denied claim, and every hour spent on paperwork instead of patients became a painful, formative lesson—one that would ultimately inspire TheraAI’s creation.
Expanding Impact Through Healthcare Leadership
After transitioning from private practice, I joined Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in a series of progressive leadership and coordination roles, including Inpatient Coordinator and Evidence-Based Practice Project Manager. In these positions, I helped lead and support interdisciplinary teams of over 50 therapists, contributing to hospital-wide initiatives through the Clinical Effectiveness, Safety, and Transformation Leadership Committees.
I led Rapid-Cycle Improvement Collaborative (RCIC) initiatives, driving meaningful improvements in care quality and therapist productivity. As evidence-based practice (EBP) coordinator, I oversaw PT/OT efforts cross a range of specialties, including orthopedics, sports medicine, oncology, NICU, and psychiatry, to develop systematic reviews, clinical pathways and national guidelines. Notably, I was invited to serve as an expert panel member for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance of Australia, where I helped assess the certainty of evidence for the first international clinical practice guideline.
This chapter of my career confirmed a key insight: the right systems don’t just improve patient outcomes—they empower providers to practice at the top of their license.
Seeing the System from All Sides
With a growing desire to improve healthcare delivery at scale, I made a pivotal leap—joining the payer side of the industry. As a Senior Utilization Review Analyst and later Specialized Clinical Reviewer, I sought to embed evidence-based principles into utilization management (UM).
I conducted thousands of clinical reviews, identified the root causes of denials, created UM algorithms, and improved team compliance scores from 85% to 98%. Yet despite those wins, I saw firsthand how deeply broken the system was—built to prioritize cost-cutting over quality care.
What struck me most was this: the most committed providers were often the most overwhelmed—burdened by documentation, compliance hurdles, and inefficient workflows. Their passion was being buried under bureaucracy.
The Birth of TheraAI
That’s why I founded TheraAI—not as just another tech product, but as a practical solution designed from the ground up by someone who has lived the realities of clinical care.
TheraAI is a customizable, AI-powered chatbot built specifically for clinics’ websites and social media platforms. It answers patients’ most frequently asked questions, delivers reliable, evidence-based education, and reflects the unique policies and services of each practice. By handling repetitive inquiries that typically consume valuable front desk and therapist time, TheraAI helps reduce administrative burden while enhancing patient access to clear, consistent information.
It’s not a replacement for clinical decision-making —it’s a patient-facing solution that empowers providers by giving them more time to focus on care, while ensuring patients stay informed and engaged in real-time.
A Commitment to Providers
TheraAI represents more than innovation—it reflects my commitment to solving real problems with practical tools. It brings together technology, patient education, and practice-specific knowledge in a way that eases the day-to-day strain on healthcare teams.
Having worked across every layer of the healthcare system—as a clinician, practice owner, hospital leader, utilization management, and quality improvement specialist—I built TheraAI to provide the kind of support I always wished I had: one that respects providers’ time, empowers patients, and actually works in real-world clinic environments.
Let’s simplify healthcare communication, one conversation at a time.
